The KSO Campaign Organisation in Sagamu Constituency 2 of Ogun State has called on its supporters to boycott the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary election scheduled for Wednesday, citing alleged threats, intimidation and irregularities surrounding the exercise.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday and signed by concerned stakeholders and coordinators of the campaign organisation, the group expressed concern over what it described as “prepared results, threats, intimidations, violence and suspicious activities” ahead of the primary election.
The organisation, which is backing Aare Kolade Segun-Okeowo (KSO), alleged that certain forces were determined to manipulate the process and endanger the lives of party loyalists and supporters.
“It is glaring that the powers that be, acting on the instructions of the government of the day are hell bent on causing harm, damage and death if necessary to push forward their agenda,” the statement read.
The group therefore urged all loyalists and supporters of the KSO for Assembly Project to stay away from the primary election process in the interest of safety.
According to the statement, the decision to boycott the exercise was not borne out of weakness but responsibility, stressing that no political contest should cost the lives of innocent citizens.
“This is not an act of weakness, but one of responsibility. Politics must not become a battlefield for innocent citizens,” the organisation stated.
Despite its grievances, the campaign organisation reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group also appealed to supporters to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, while insisting that the struggle for justice and genuine representation within the party would continue.
