There is growing concern surrounding the health of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, as reports indicate that the Ilobu-born general has been bedridden for over a month, receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.

Sources close to the situation revealed that the Army General’s condition has worsened, making it difficult for him to recognize or communicate with those around him.

Speculation escalated over the weekend when rumors circulated online that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja had passed away, with reports suggesting that the news was being suppressed due to intense lobbying among Army Generals vying for his position.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) confirmed that the COAS is currently receiving medical treatment abroad and reassured the public that his absence would not lead to a leadership vacuum within the Nigerian Army.
