Residents of  Trailer park, Akowo, Adana and others in Awotan , Ido local government area of Oyo stat have called for relocation of dumpsites in the area and immediate repair of the road

The clamor for repair of Apete- Akufo road  has been on for many years with no serious response from  government, the situation  which has  forced the community  into self-help on many occasion

Many residents , especially those living close to the dumping sites have vacated their houses due to environmental hazard and other  hygienic problems

Apart from the constant violating odour, they  cannot drink from their wells and boreholes due to seepage of sewer into water sources.

The community in their resolve to get the problem solved send a delegation to the commissioner for Enviroment and water resources, Hon Kehinde Ayoola  to discuss the challenges been faced by the resident  and the commissioner promptly responded with a visitation to the site the following day

During the visit, some of the residents stage a peaceful demonstration to press home their demands for  relocation of the sites and reconstruction of the road.

Hon Ayoola while addressing them  assured the community of the government readiness to make like easy and bearable for and sundry in the state

He said Engineer Makinde  led administration will not ignore their demands  but take a necessary steps  required of it to make the place conducive and hygienic for them

Hon Ayoola posted on his wall  “On Thursday, 26th September, 2019, we received a 3-man delegation of residents of Àwọ́tán, Apete in Ido Local Govt area who came to complain about the Dumpsite there.

Yesterday, we visited the place and arrived to meet angry residents with placards demanding the immediate relocation of the site.

My observation is that the road to that place is bad and there are evidences of seepage of sewer into water sources like wells not to talk of the nuisance of odour and vernins
