The Ondo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has rescued five travellers who were abducted last week on the Ifon-Ipele-Owo highway.
The corps also arrested 14 suspects linked to various crimes, including kidnappers and three herdsmen accused of gang-raping a 75-year-old grandmother at Ifira Akoko while she was returning from her farm.
The State Commander of Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this in Akure while parading the suspects. He assured residents that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and security agencies were working tirelessly to curb the rising cases of kidnapping in the state, attributed to an influx of bandits.
Speaking on the recent abduction of students and farmers near Akure Airport, Chief Adeleye stated that Amotekun operatives, in collaboration with other security forces, were actively trailing the kidnappers to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
