Alao-Akala: No Official Burial Date Yet – Family

The family of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said the story of the burial arrangements of the former governor going viral on the internet is mere speculation.

A statement by the spokesman of the family, Tolu Mustapha, indicated that the state government is fully involved in the burial arraignment.

According to the statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday, stated that the consultation is ongoing on the way to handle the burial.

“Being a former Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala will be accorded state Burial, hence the state Government is fully involved in his burial plans.

“Consultation is ongoing and we will reliably inform the general public on activities lined up to give His Excellency a befitting burial.

“I can assure you he will be celebrated across the length and Breath of Oyo State.

“The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Oyo State, Prof. Lowo Oyewo is the Chairman of the Burial committee from the Government side and he is liaising with the family accordingly.”

Meanwhile, there were reports of speculations that the burial arrangements for the former governor, Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala have been slated for between Tuesday 15th and Friday 18th February 2022.

It would be recalled that Alao-Akala died in the early hours of Wednesday 12th January 2022 at his Ogbomoso residence.

Since his demise, politicians of all sorts, government officials, royal fathers, service chiefs, business moguls, unionists, student leaders, religious and community leaders of note as well as representatives of various political parties have been thronging his house at Ogbomoso to pay condolence visit even as they poured encomiums and kind remarks on the life and times of the deceased former police officer.
