he National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), Western Zone, has elected a new set of executive officers at its zonal election held at the National Museum of Unity, Ibadan.
Out of 156 registered voters, 72 were accredited to participate in the exercise.
At the keenly contested poll, Prince Olaleye Abiodun Ajibade emerged as the Zonal Vice President. For the position of Zonal Publicity Officer, Adewale Dada secured 41 votes to defeat Riike Wellington, who polled 29 votes.
Other elected officers include Olatundun Olumide as Zonal Secretary; Temitope Ogunsebikan as Internal Auditor; Dr. Femi Adegbola as Financial Secretary; and Madam Opeyemi Alabi as Treasurer.
The immediate past Vice President, Otunba Tunde Adesokan, will serve as Ex-Officio member.
The election was coordinated by Dr. Tokunbo Dagunduro, Deputy Vice President II, alongside members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), including Madam Kofoworola Akanni Aluko and Elder Prince Olajide Sarayi, who supervised the process to ensure transparency and credibility.
In his acceptance speech, Prince Ajibade expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to promote professionalism, support members and drive growth within the travel industry.
“I am humbled and honoured to accept this position as the Vice President of NANTA Western Zone. I thank you for your votes and for the trust and confidence you have placed in me,” he said.
He explained that his decision to serve was driven by a desire to give back to the association, noting that leadership was about growing others and consolidating on the achievements of predecessors.
Ajibade commended past leaders of the zone for their innovative contributions, which he said had resulted in increased workshops, seminars and industry-related engagements for members. in recent years.
“As I begin my journey as your new Vice President, I promise to be accessible, responsive and dedicated to your needs. I will work closely with the National President, the National Executive Council, our BoTs and my Zonal Executive Council members to address challenges, seize opportunities and make NANTA Western Zone a beacon of excellence,” he stated.
He urged members to remain united and committed to building a stronger and more vibrant Western Zone.
The newly elected executives are expected to steer the affairs of the Western Zone and strengthen the activities of travel agencies across the region.
