From policy shapers to race organisers and global athletics leaders, Nigeria is set to host a powerful convergence of minds as the Africa Running Conference 2026 begins Thursday at the Eko Hotel in Lagos.

The gathering signals a defining moment for road running in Africa, with stakeholders ready to chart a bold, commercially viable and globally aligned future for the sport.

It starts with a technical workshop on Day One (Thursday, February 12), followed by the main conference sessions on Friday, February 13, 2026. The event precedes the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon scheduled for February 14, 2026.

International guests and top World Athletics officials began arriving in Lagos from Tuesday and were received by the Head of the Local Organising Committee, Chief Solomon Ogba, who expressed confidence in Nigeria’s readiness to host a world-class event.
