Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the national leadership of the Accord Party have adopted President Bola Tinubu as the party’s preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The decision was reached during a meeting held on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, where Governor Adeleke met with the party’s national executives and state chairmen from across the country to deliberate on issues affecting the party and the nation’s political landscape.
Speaking after the meeting, the party’s leadership said the endorsement was informed by the need for continuity in governance, particularly to ensure the completion of major infrastructure projects initiated by the Tinubu administration. These include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, among other strategic national projects.
The meeting also focused on preparations for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
The Accord Party leadership expressed concern over the need for a peaceful electoral process, warning against violence, voter intimidation, electoral manipulation, and the deployment of security agencies to harass or intimidate party members.
The party urged all stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies, to ensure a free, fair, and credible election in Osun State.
Those present at the meeting included the National Chairman of the Accord Party, Maxwell Mgbudem; Deputy National Chairman, Maryam Sale; National Secretary, Ajaja Abiola Adebukola; National Treasurer, Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen; National Organising Secretary, Ibe Thankgod; National Publicity Secretary, Omorogbe Joseph, as well as other members of the National Working Committee.
Also in attendance were the party’s state chairmen from across the federation, who reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party and promoting peaceful democratic participation nationwide.
