The presentation ceremony took place on Friday at the Ido Local Government Secretariat, where the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, and the Director of Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Kola Abiola, represented the state government.

The appointment was conveyed in a memo dated June 24, 2026, from the Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, with reference number CB141/152/4T/119, signed by Mr. Kola Abiola on behalf of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo.

The memo stated that Governor Makinde had approved Adefisoye’s appointment as the Alakufo of Akufo with effect from October 23, 2023.

The ceremony was attended by the Head of Local Government Administration in Ido, Alhaji Sarafadeen; the Director of Chieftaincy Matters in Ido Local Government, Mr. Adelu; Mogaji Nurudeen Adegbola Adefisoye, Head of the Adefisoye Family of Ido; Asiwaju Tunde Black, Head of the Okekegan Family of Akufo; and Alhaji AbdulAzeez AbdulSalam, among other dignitaries.

In his acceptance speech, the new monarch expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde, Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal, Commissioner Ademola Ojo, and Ido Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, for the confidence reposed in him.

He also appreciated the Oyo State Ministries of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters and Justice, as well as all individuals who contributed to the successful completion of the selection process.

Adefisoye reserved special appreciation for the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, describing the revered monarch as his mentor and benefactor.

“I especially thank His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, my godfather and mentor. Kabiyesi, your prayers have been answered. I remain forever grateful,” he said.

The new Alakufo pledged to work closely with the Oyo State Government and Ido Local Government while calling on sons and daughters of Akufo, both at home and in the diaspora, to support his administration.

He outlined an ambitious development agenda focused on infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth and women empowerment, security, investment, transportation, peaceful land administration, and the preservation of the community’s cultural heritage.

According to him, his vision is to transform Akufo into “a community of dignity, opportunity, security, prosperity and heritage,” stressing that achieving the goal would require the collective efforts of all stakeholders.

He concluded by praying for divine guidance for his reign and for peace and prosperity in Akufo, Oyo State and Nigeria.
