The legal battle against Senator Olufemi Lanlehin’s candidature has been settled out of court and withdrawn by the 12 appellants who are challenging his emergence as the African Democratic Congress ADC gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state.
Five of the nine, Senator Gbenga Babalola; Chief Lowo Obisesan; Chief Oluseye Opatoki; Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja; Honourable Wale Adegoke, attended the event where the declaration was made, explaining that decision to withdraw the case was taken by all of them
Speaking on behalf of other gubernatorial aspirants, the former deputy governor of the state Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja said all conflicts that arose from the primaries have been amicably resolved and all aspirants that contested for the party’s ticket are ready to work for the victory of the party and Senator Lanlehin at the polls next month.
“All the co-aspirants have discontinued all the cases in court and we have all agreed to support Senator Lanlehin.
All power belongs to God and He gives whoever He wants.” he said.
He thanked the people of Oyo State for their steadfastness and support and declared that Senator Lanlehin will be victorious at the polls in the governorship election.
Another aspirant, Barrister Lowo Obisesan, corroborated Arapaja’s statement, stressng that they are not detractors.
He described Lanlehin as a good man and urged party supporters to work tirelessly for the party and ensure Senator Lanlehin emerges victorious in the March 2 governorship election in the State
In his remark a former governor of Osun State and coordinator of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), expressed the hope that ADC would form the next government in the state judging by the formidability of the party and the quality of the candidates fielded.
Oyinlola charged ADC members to work hard and win the state, saying “it is when the party forms the next government of the state that there can be a gain for all members.”
He thanked the litigants for being magnanimous in withdrawing the case after “a lot of sleepless nights and meetings upon meetings,” adding that God had destined the governorship ticket for one person, even though many showed interest in it.
The programme was attended by party executives, candidates for Federal and state Assembly as well as supporters from all part of the state
