The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has described the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival as a commendable initiative that will strengthen Yoruba cultural values and traditions.

Speaking on Thursday at his Lagos residence while receiving members of the carnival planning committee, including Mr. Gbite Adegoke, Bashorun Akinwole Akinwale and Remi Oladoye,Adams praised the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, for spearheading the initiative. He lauded the monarch’s efforts in promoting culture, fostering unity among Ogbomoso indigenes, and boosting the local economy.

“Initially, I was skeptical about a pastor becoming king, but Oba Ghandi Olaoye has proven his commitment to strengthening the traditional institution,” Adams said. “His efforts in uniting Ogbomoso and connecting with other Yoruba monarchs are highly commendable. He must not relent.”

Adams also expressed joy over Ogbomoso’s renewed focus on its cultural heritage. He highlighted the town’s pivotal role in Yoruba history, noting its significance in the Oyo Empire as a city of warriors and a producer of three Aare Ona Kakanfos, two of whom were also Souns.
