Egbe Itesiwaju Ogbomoso, a socio-cultural group affiliated with the Ogbomoso Development Association (ODA), has commended Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye for his exemplary leadership and accomplishments during his tenure as Registrar and Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Pa Ajekigbe Amos Adekojo, and Secretary, Tunde Adegoke, the group praised Prof. Ajiboye’s transformative impact in the TRCN, stating that his tenure laid a solid foundation for the council’s future growth and credibility.
“Professor Ajiboye is a man of high repute and integrity. His contributions to education in Nigeria cannot be overstated. Under his watch, TRCN recorded unprecedented progress and gained respect across the continent,” the statement read.
The group also applaud his role as President of the Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (AFTRA), describing it as a reflection of his international recognition and lasting impact on the education sector.
Egbe Itesiwaju Ogbomoso highlighted that Prof. Ajiboye’s efforts have not gone unnoticed within his hometown and beyond, noting previous honours from the Ogbomoso Development Association (ODA) in 2022, Ogbomoso First Group and several other community-based organisations who regard him as a pillar of the Ogbomoso community.
Addressing recent speculations about his exit from TRCN, the group clarified that Prof. Ajiboye was not removed from office but voluntarily resigned in August 2024 during his second term to return to his academic career at the university. They emphasized that he continues to contribute to national development through teaching and mentorship.
A formal letter from the Federal Ministry of Education, dated October 11, 2024, confirmed the acceptance of his resignation and commended his years of unbroken service, highlighting his significant contributions to strengthening professional standards in Nigeria’s teaching profession.
Egbe Itesiwaju Ogbomoso cautioned against any attempts to tarnish Prof. Ajiboye’s reputation, stressing that his legacy at TRCN and his broader contributions to education will continue to inspire excellence and commitment across the sector.
