Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, fondly known as Wolekanle, is a man of admirable character—humble, respectful, and unwaveringly loyal to any cause he believes in. One thing he detests, however, is dishonesty or deceit. He is a firm believer in truth, integrity, and, above all, God’s perfect timing.
Since our paths crossed, I have learned so much from him, especially in the area of decision-making and recognizing opportunities. One of his constant sayings remains etched in my mind: “Don’t rush things. They will work out at the appointed time—unless they are not meant for you. God knows we are alive and in need; He will do it when the time is right.” These words reflect the depth of his wisdom and the patience he embodies.
The journey into the 2023 elections was a remarkable experience—one that tested faith, resilience, and loyalty. Despite the obstacles and political machinations that worked against his ambition to represent his people in the House of Representatives, Wolekanle remained calm and unshaken. As fate would have it, God used His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde to change the narrative, elevating him to contest for the Senatorial seat—an unexpected and powerful twist that surprised many.
Though the election was eventually lost, largely due to various prevailing factors, Wolekanle stayed true to his principles. He neither wavered nor withdrew his support. Instead, he remained steadfast in his commitment to the party, to Governor Makinde, and to the ideals they both cherish—and clearly, it was not in vain as he has just been appointed as Chairman Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.
Wolekanle’s story is one of patience, purpose, and an unyielding belief in divine timing. For him, patience is more than just a virtue—it is a way of life.
