The 65th Founder’s Day Anniversary of Ibadan Christ Apostolic Grammar School (ICAGS) concluded in grand style on Saturday, February 1, 2025, with a well-attended finale held at the Alumni Center, University of Ibadan.
The event brought together old students, dignitaries, and well-wishers to celebrate the school’s legacy.
In his address, the President of the ICAGS Old Students Association, Dr. Morohunkola Thomas, congratulated members on the milestone and paid tribute to past and present principals and teachers for their dedication. He also commended alumni for their continued support and urged them to sustain their contributions towards the school’s development.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Femi Oke, expressed appreciation to members who donated towards the remodeling of the school gate and the successful planning of the anniversary.
The event also featured an awards ceremony recognizing distinguished personalities for their outstanding contributions to their fields and alma mater. Among the honorees were Chief Dr. Sanusi, Professor Adeoye, and Dr. Rasheed Lawal. Former English and Literature teacher, Dr. Mrs. Omotayo Fadeyi, was also honored for her impact on students. Posthumous awards were presented to late Pastor Ayo Ogunranti and Dr. Sesan Ajayi in recognition of their contributions.
Other awardees included, Chief Ademola Adelakun, AIG Sikiru Kayode Akande,Dr. Sir Kehinde Oladeji,Chief Olawore Adeagbo andMr. Nureni Jimoh
A key highlight of the event was the launch of the anniversary brochure, The Upland Hunter, which chronicles the school’s history and achievements. The celebration was filled with excitement as alumni reunited, reliving fond memories in an atmosphere of camaraderie.
Earlier, on Friday, January 31, 2025, the ultra-modern school gate, christened Oba Sir Isaac Babalola Akinyele Memorial Gate, was officially commissioned. Additionally, the 1994 Set donated desks and chairs to the school, further reinforcing the commitment of old students to the institution’s growth.
