The grand finale of the 2024 Olusegun Odebunmi Empowerment Foundation (OOEF) Football Tournament delivered an electrifying spectacle on Sunday at Oko Grammar School, Oko.
Ola Babes FC from Surulere emerged as champions in a hard-fought match against Ajawa FC. The game ended in a 1-1 draw after regular time, leading to a tense penalty shootout that saw Ola Babes triumph 6-5.
The tournament, an initiative of Rt. Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi (popularly known as Bunvic), a former lawmaker representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Constituency in the 7th, 8th, and 9th Assemblies, aimed to foster youth empowerment, community unity, and talent discovery.
Speaking at the event, Odebunmi praised the players for their sportsmanship and skill. “This tournament showcases the incredible talent within our communities. It’s not just about football; it’s about creating opportunities, building unity, and empowering our youth to excel,” he said.
