The Federal Government on Monday commenced the rehabilitation of the damaged portion of the old Ogbomoso-Oyo-Ilorin road, particularly the Caretaker Seminary and Bowen Teaching Hospital axis.
The road, which has caused severe traffic congestion over the past few months, has also been linked to numerous accidents, loss of lives, and valuables, while significantly affecting the economic activities in Ogbomoso and surrounding areas.
Speaking at the site, the contractor assured stakeholders of delivering a quality project. Present to assess the situation were Senator Fatai Buhari, an APC lawmaker, and members of the Soun-in-Council, led by Chief Samuel Sobaloju Otolorin, the Aare Ago of Ogbomoso. They urged the contractor to ensure speedy completion of the project while maintaining high standards.
The stakeholders commended President Bola Tinubu for approving funds for the rehabilitation through the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Meanwhile, residents and road users have appealed to the Federal Government to prioritize the completion of the abandoned Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway. They noted that completing the expressway would ease vehicular movement, reduce accidents, and boost economic activities in the region.
