A group, Lens for Good, on Thursday held an empowerment programme for young Nigerian content creators, offering mentorship and equipment grants aimed at promoting positive storytelling and shaping Nigeria’s narrative.
The Ibadan edition, part of a nationwide series, was a significant opportunity for residents of the Pacesetter State. The event, anchored by Deji Onadeko at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, allowed participants to connect with notable mentors in the creative industry and access N150 million in equipment grants.
Seun Fakorede, Executive Adviser on Youths and Sports to Governor Seyi Makinde and Special Guest Speaker at the event, delivered a talk titled “Global Impact, Local Stories: The Role of Creatives in Shaping the State’s Perception.” Fakorede, known for his Home Advantage Africa initiative, encouraged creators to focus on telling authentic local stories, reminding them that, “no one can tell our tales better than ourselves.”
Led by Nosah Asemota, the Lens for Good initiative aims to empower over 5,000 content creators, fostering a brighter future for Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
Among the panelists were Ayo Adeagbo, Pamilerin, Hauwa, ÀdeDayo Ayoade, and Miss Tenie.
The initiative promises to continue its tour across the country, with the goal of promoting creative storytelling that highlights the positive aspects of Nigeria.
