Hon Bisi Oluranti Micheal, Chairman Oyo state House committee on Culture and Tourism has commiserated with the family of Corps member identified as Iyanda Damilola who lost his life a day before convocation ceremony during a gunshot in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Recall that multiple reports say that the student was allegedly killed by one trigger-happy policeman while his brother, a graduate of LAUTECH, Iyanda Oluwafemi sustained wounds from the bullets shot.
The late Damilola was a corper serving in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In her condolence message on Friday, the lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North constituency at the state Assembly, described the corper’s death as unfortunate.
While condemning the unwarranted murder of a family breadwinner, the lawmaker urged students to always take it easy with security operatives including Amotekun during arguments.
She extended her deep condolences to the bereaved family, friends and prayed to God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
She equally prayed to God to grant the deceased an eternal rest.
The lawmaker, who verified that the incident happened at a pub in the Adenike neighbourhood, away from the school grounds, said that she spoke with the Commissioner of Police and the DPO during her investigation and was informed that the necessary actions had been taken.
Nevertheless, she charged security personnel with constantly ensuring the security of lives and property and should always act more professionally in their dealings in Ogbomoso North local government.
