Japa: Catholic Bishop Tasks Govts on Youth Empowerment, Job Creations

The Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan Diocese,Most Rev, Dr Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin has urged the Federal and State government to put in place effective machineries that will provide opportunities for the youths and young adults to be gainfully employed.

He added that the government must not also failed in providing an enabling climate that will also encourage the private sector to engage in the employment of many young people

Addressing a press conference on the state of the Nation where he raises concerned on issues affecting the Nation, on Wednesday the cleric opined that ” This japa Syndrome may provide some economic benefits but in the long run it depopulates our society because our brightests minds are allowee to go away to develop other lands.

Speaking on the social welfare package being distributed as palliatives to some people, Bishop said the government should extended to all citizens of the state.

The cleric while addressing journalists on the state of Nation said “We often hear of palliatives being distributed but never seen them, we would like to see funds allocated for the good of the people to be used for the purpose and not the endlieds accusations and counter accusations that our political leaders continue to engage in and in the hallowed chamber.”

“Bishop Abegunrin who insisted that the church is not satisfied with the state of the Nation also called on Banks not to cause another pains and stress on the citizens with the linking of BVN and NIN. ” Government should therefore ensured that the exercise be allowed to go on for as long as possible and easy Infrastructure put in place for citizens to be able to do the linking with minimum of stress”

On security of lives and properties of residents, Bishop Abegunrin the Government should be allow various security outfit in the state to provide adequate security for all and sundry. ” If this is lacking individuals will resort to jungle justice as we have been witnessing in recent times; this can affect the peaceful coexistence of people in the state.”

While Commending Governor Makinde for for the construction and repairs of many roads in the state, Bishop said the poort power supply is getting too long , Normal life is grounded and many life have been grossly affected because of this.

The cleric who harped on the need for state government to find alternative source of power generation and supply or whatever will improve life of the people of the state also reiterate their readiness to take over schools from government and ensure academic excellence.
