The umbrella body of youth groups, Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association (YYSA) has expressed concern over the alarming rate of kidnapping in the South West region and the entire Nigeria.
The association’s National President, Olalekan Hammed and national Secretary, Olawale Ajao, in a statement said there was no doubt Nigeria as a nation was re-falling into the unrest situation that had been experienced in the last eight years of the previous administration.
According to the youths, ‘’It seems as if our southwestern network security outfit known as Amotekun is not as effective as before.
“There is an urgent need to re equip them for effective service delivery if we are truly serious about ensuring peace in our region.
“Intelligence gathering is also another aspect our governors must look into,” the group said.
While imploring Southwest governors to do the needful on time as kidnapping terribly becomes increasing daily, they urged that Amotekun personnel must be “trained and retrained regularly because it will go a long way in improving their skills in anti-terror fight.”
