Two former staff of National Electric Power Authority and 2others were on monday paraded by Police Oyo state command for allegedly stealing a transformer in Ogbomoso.
The suspects includes YUSUF ISMAILA ‘M’, SALAWUDEEN AZEEZ ‘M’, MOSHOOD ISAH ‘M’, AFOLAYAN IMRAN ‘M’ (ex-NEPA Staff) and BABALOLA LUKMAN ‘M’ (ex-NEPA Staff) were arrested.
According to the Command’s PRO, Osifeso Adewale, they were arrested around Aroje Area of Ogbomoso following a a credible information that some members of a notorious criminal syndicate that specialize in vandalizing and removing TRANSFORMERS and other electrical equipments were sighted at AROJE area, Ogbomoso.
“Sequel to this information, the Monitoring Unit while on intelligence-based anti-crime patrol operatives in Ogbomoso trailed the hoodlums to the said area and in the process, five members of the criminal gang were caught.
He added that One big TRANSFORMER valued about Fifteen Million Naira and one TOYOTA DAINA Truck with registration number LND 234 XM which they used to convey the transformer was recovered.
“Upon interrogations, the suspects confessed to have removed the transformer from where it was installed for onward movement to their criminal receiver in Lagos State.”
“They equally confessed to have perpetrated similar criminal activity in various parts of Oyo state and its neighboring states and that they had sold several transformers to the yet to be identified criminal receivers in Lagos State.”
Investigation is now in progress.
