The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has congratulated the newly appointed Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council, Barrister Lateef Sarafadeen Abiola (a.k.a. Onijo).
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had recently appointed Barrister Abiola Onijo as Chairman of the Oke-Ogun Poly Governing Council.
The appointment, according to a letter by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, takes effect from September 13, 2022.
Meanwhile, in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade George Abiodun Olaleye and Secretary, Comrade Lawrence Oluwasanmi Ajiboye, respectively, the Oke-Ogun Poly ASUP described Barrister Abiola Onijo’s appointment as a welcome development.
In the statement made available to newsmen by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Comrade Adebayo Olugbenga Abegunrin, the union expressed optimism that Barrister Onijo’s tenure would bring positive changes into the institution.
The statement reads: “We sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for appointing a new Chairman for our institution’s Governing Council. We also appreciate the fact Barrister Lateef Sarafadeen Abiola was appointed as the new Chairman. The appointment is deserving. It’s a welcome development. It’s like putting a round pen in a round hole.
“As a union, we are promising a good working relationship with the new Chairman and the entire Governing Council as a whole. We hope that Barrister Abiola Onijo’s appointment would bring positive changes into our institution.”
The new Chairman of the Oke-Ogun Poly Governing Council was called to bar about 20 years ago, and he is the current Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Saki branch.
Barrister Abiola Onijo attended Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto and the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, where he obtained LL.B and Barrister of Law degrees respectively.
