A 24 lawmakers of the Oyo State House of Assembly has levelled a five-point allegation against the Deputy Governor of the state, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan.
The petition which was read by the Clerk of the House, Mrs. Oludara Awe, who also read out the names of the 23 lawmakers who appended their signatures on the petition.
It was read that the lawmakers accused the Deputy Governor of gross misconducts, abuse of office, financial recklessness, abandonment of office and official duties and insubordination.
The sitting however unanimously agreed to give the Deputy Governor a seven-day ultimatum to respond to the petition after which it is believed that impeachment process might be instituted against him.
The petition reads:
“PETITION AND NOTICE OF ALLEGATION OF THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY ENGINEER RAUF OLANIYAN
RT.HON. SPEAKER SIR,
Consequent upon listed below, we the under listed elected Honourable members of the 9th assembly hereby allege the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Rauf Olaniyan with the following allegations:
1. Gross misconduct
2. Abuse of office
3. Financial recklessness
4. Abandonment of office, official duty
5. Insubordination and other offences.
This is in accordance to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended in 2011. Section 188.”
