*Dare Adeleke Says Lawmaker Deserves Second Term, Declares Support*

A chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Executive Chairman of the Oyo Pacesetters Transport Company, Mr. Dare Adeleke has said that the lawmaker representing Ibadan North East / Ibadan South East Federal Constituency, Honourable Abass Adigun Agboworin deserves second term.

Adeleke, a former youth leader of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP made this declaration at the empowerment program of the lawmaker in Ibadan on Saturday.

Adeleke said he hasn’t seen a federal lawmaker like Agboworin before adding that he will support him for second term.

He added that he hope that other lawmakers will emulate the good work Agboworin is doing.

His words: “Those at my right hand side are beneficiaries, those are the people Honourable Agboworin wants to empower. Are they not more than the other people gathered here today. He wants to empower about 800 people in this country. I want to say thank you to Honourable Agboworin. I want to say you are the best among equal. I haven’t seen such an Honorable like you before.

“I happened to be first secretary of the PDP, the first Youth Leader since the inception of the party and the first zonal youth leader. I have never seen something like this in my life. As a matter of fact, I have sponsored so many people into offices and I have held several offices in my life. If someone says he’s going to empower people here, If not that the person has fear of God, the money to be spent to empower these people, if he puts them in his pocket, people will call him a billionaire. Poverty cannot touch the person and his family again. But because he loves his constituents, that’s why he’s doing all these. If you estimate the cost of tricycle, motorcycle and other things here. It will be in the history of this constituency that you have done well.

I’m thanking you on behalf of leaders of Ibadan South East Local Government and our leader in Oyo state and Southwest, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde for a job well-done, for being yourself and for having attributes of a leader that you are exhibiting in our local government. I pray and hope that other Reps member and House of Assembly members will emulate what Honorable Agboworin is doing.

“I declare that Honourable Agboworin deserves a second term. I, Honourble Dare Adeleke will support Honourable Agboworin for second term

Oriire Kidnapping: Stop Politicising Amotekun Casualty Figures, Oyelade Tells Opposition

The Oyo State Government has cautioned opposition politicians against politicising the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area, insisting that misleading narratives about the state security outfit, Amotekun Corps, are unhelpful to ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity. The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made the appeal in a statement issued on Thursday, saying Governor Seyi Makinde's recent disclosure that about 200 operatives of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) had died since the organisation's establishment six years ago was being deliberately misrepresented. According to Oyelade, some opposition elements had wrongly linked the figure to the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire, thereby creating a false impression that the casualties occurred during the incident. He described the interpretation as "cheap politics," stressing that no Amotekun operative lost his life in connection with the Oriire kidnapping. "For the opposition to turn the statistics on its head is nothing but cheap politics. Amotekun has not lost a single operative in the Oriire kidnapping incident. The only casualty recorded was a personnel who sustained injuries and is currently recuperating," he stated. The commissioner explained that the 200 deaths recorded since the creation of the corps in 2020 resulted from various causes, including illnesses, natural causes and fatalities sustained during security operations. He added that due procedures were followed in all cases, including notification of the families of deceased personnel. Oyelade maintained that the Oyo State Amotekun Corps remains the most funded and best-equipped security outfit in the South-West, noting that it currently operates 181 vehicles and 450 motorcycles, with a workforce of more than 2,500 personnel. He said the corps is the largest Amotekun formation in the region and one of the best remunerated. The commissioner further recalled that Governor Makinde had consistently advocated state policing and the deployment of superior weapons to security agencies since 2021 to enable them effectively confront bandits and kidnappers. According to him, the governor's repeated calls have received little attention despite the growing security challenges across the country. Oyelade urged political actors to approach the security situation from a non-partisan perspective and avoid statements capable of undermining rescue efforts or endangering lives. He also appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting the government and security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and security across Oyo State.
