Chief Niyi Akintola. legal luminary and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state has said his ambition to be the next governor of Oyo state is intact.
Chief Akintola reiterated his decision to vie for the governorship position under APC in an interview in Ibadan recently
According to him, he is in the race to liberate the people of Oyo state and take the state to the next level
The frontline legal icon in Nigeria will be contesting the party slot with the likes of Senator Teslim Folarin, Chief Bayo Adelabu, Joseph Tegbe and others.
Speaking on Makinde’s delay in responding to the supreme court judgement on the sacked local government chairmen, Akintola explained that they are likely to be paid soon.
He said, after the court judgement the government was dilly dallying on the inclusion of the chairmen of the LCDAs in the payment “but we let them realize that the legal action was insistuted by both the main Council and the LCDA chairmen”.
Akintola who handled the matter said the attempt to garnishee the government properties and account was stopped because Makinde was busy with the party and other matters but we have discussed it and they would be paid soon.
” I think another factor that delayed the payment was the attitudes of some the governor’s aides “who believed that paying the money would be tantamount to empowering our opponents” but the governor has agreed and I believe they will get their money soon.
