Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja has defeated ex Osun state governor prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola to emerged as the Deputy National Chairman (South South ) of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP
At the National Convention where delegates voted for the candidate of their choice, prince Oyinlola scored 705
While Ambassador Arapaja acored 2004 while 165 vote were voided
Before the election efforts to
make Arapaja the sole candidate for the office failed and the stakeholders decided to leave both men to slug it out.
The governors queued behind a former deputy governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofek Arapaja, for the position and mandates delegates from their state to vote for him
The position of the Deputy National Chairman (South) was zoned to the South-West and was initially micro-zoned to Osun State after Arapaja from Oyo State was already elected as the party’s vice chairman (south).
But the PDP governors rejected the choice of Oyinlola for the job and settled for Arapaja base on reasons best known to them
