Oyo state government has stated that Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rasidi Ladoja who was among the elevated High Chief in Ibadan did not reject his new title and crown but only tell them that he won’t be available for the coronation.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters Hon Bimbo Kolade who briefed the press in Ibadan said the ministry is not aware that he rejected the crown but only told us is that he won’t be available
Kolade said further that “ At the ministry there is no document where he formally rejected the crown, heWe are waiting for the time that he will be available to take his title and instrument of office”
While claiming that no law was violated in the process, Kolade said every necessary steps and due consultation were taken before the eventual coronation and of the elevated monarchs
The government also said it has suspended promotion of government said it has suspended the promotion from Mogaji (Family Head) to Jagun both in the Otun Olubadan and Balogun lines of Olubadan chieftaincy hierarchy line until further notice.
According to him , the suspension was parts of the recommendations in the review as gazetted by the state government.
He said that “What the panel recommended as gazetted is that there will be no longer promotion from Mogaji (Compound Head) to Jagun both in the Otun line and Balogun line in the Olubadan Chieftaincy line until the present Jaguns in the Otun Olubadan and Balogun lines rise to become Ikolaba Balogun and Ikolaba Olubadan.
Kolade also announced that parts of the recommendations was the reduction of the steps in the Otun Olubadan line from 22 to 11 and reduction of the 23 steps in the Balogun line to 12.
He stated that the steps were taken in order to have young people becoming Olubadan.
“The thing is to have a very young people to become Olubadan.
Kolade also announced that the panel also recommended total eradication of Seriki line in the Olubadan chieftaincy line saying after those in the Seriki line have been fused away, there will be no more Seriki chiefs in Ibadanland.
“The gazette has also put a stop to Seriki. There will be no Seriki line anymore. We will allow those who are there until they fused out. Then there will be no more Seriki.
“All the Senior Chiefs in the Olubadan Chieftaincy line have been promoted to part two (2) Obas or Chiefs in the state. From Ekerin Olubadan and Ekerin Balogun will now be addressed as Obas.
“The local government where they preside is there already, all the 11 High Chiefs are presiding over a local government area before, they will preside over there now.
With this we will be able to increase the status of the Olubadan
