The Chairman Ilaji Hotel and Sport Resort Engineer Dotun Sanusi has said politics remains no go area for him
Sanusi an Ibadan born petroleum Engineer while speaking with members of South West Group of Online Publishers SWEGOP who converged on a two days seminar at the resort said he doesn’t need to be in politics to serve humanity.
According to him, “I love serving humanity and i have been doing a lot with what God has blessed me with, i don’t need to be in politics to do what i am doing to make people happy or make positive impact in the society.
“While growing up everybody in my church, contributed in one way or the other to ensure i was enrolled in a school at Elekuro, “i went to John Wesley Primary School and Wesley College. People contributed little money to be able to raise us and I too was able to move around and sweat in order to give back to society.”
” I believe in God, I am a Christian but I have a Muslim background. But I am a realist. I believe that what God will use to judge everyone is your passion for humanity. What is the essence of me if I don’t love my fellow human being. It’s madness. So if I love my fellow human being, how far people around me are happy, it is not about my giant building that I am able to show off to people but the impact and contributions to their life.
“ When i bought Rolls Royce some people said it is because I wanted to display opulence. But that is not the reason. I bought the car so that the poor children in my local community here can feel and taste what they see as luxury.Several times, many children of the poor will approach me to enter the car. I will oblige them. I will allow them to go to their various houses, riding in the car, i do give Akanran youths the opportunity to ride with me anytime
“One day, while driving, he saw a group of young boys running after his car and requested that “We will like to play in your football club but we don’t News have the means. We are young footballers here. We would be happy if you give us the grace.” For showing that the zeal, he gave them automatic slots to be members of the team. One of them, he added, ate his first-ever food with meat for the first time in the Ilaji football club camp.”
“I am doing this so that these children will not feel inferior to their counterparts who have rich backgrounds. I want them to know that they too can enjoy what other children are enjoying in the big cities and rich homes.
Speaking on why he established Ilaji in Akaran, the Otun Apesinola of Ibadanland said he concluded on Akanran because of its historical record and the need to boost the economy of the rural community and obviously he has been making positive impacts in the community “When i first came in the road was in a bad shape but i fixed the road, i asked the OYSTROMA what it would cost to fix the road and i paid them, today a plot of land is now N350,000, the same land I bough N30,000 per acre few years ago
Sanusi while dissecting the problems millitating against Nigeria said I found out that we are not in reality in Nigeria. We are so tribalistic, being so consumed by religion and we are not honest. So if we are honest to ourselves we will love to talk about thing that are not going well. But in the country Nigeria it is not possible. Which of the system of government are we even using? Is it parliamentary, is it Federalism, in a country where we just copy and copy and copy. I have stayed in China for some times and I checked into the grass root and I find out the democracy in China different from the one they are using in American. They merged their culture with their own democracy and is what makes it work. You cannot take their culture from them, UAE too, you cannot take their culture from them. But here we have sold everything out”.
