Staffs and factory workers in cassava processing company in Nigeria are loosing jobs in scores due to scarcity of cassava supply
Some.processing company have sacked about percents of their staff while the remaining ones were placed on half salary due to lack of materials for production
Investigation reveals that cassava is not just scarce but its price has rises geometrically as a ton is sold for as high as N60,000
Same for Maize and other grains as inadequate rain in 2020 affected production.
Maize farmer are lamenting poor output and are hoping that this year will be better .
Mr Sola Adeleke an expert in Agriculture said that the reduction in the volume rainfall was responsible for the drought and scarcity of the products
Adeleke who is the Chief Operating Officer Ridges and Furrow said farmers should factor irrigation into their planting year as the rainfall cannot be predicted
He however urged government to assist the farmers but puting in place a scheme that will enhance irigation system and provide loan facilities for the farmers
