The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of all Trade Unions in the six state-owned Tertiary Institutions in Oyo State have
implored members of the newly constittuted Governing Councils for state owned institutions to discharge their duties with utmost fear of God and love of humanity.
JAC also commended Governor Seyi Makinde over the recent constitution of the Governing Councils for each of the institutions.
JAC made the commendation after a meeting on Friday held at the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Erelu, Oyo.
The body also congratulated all the members of the councils on their appointment
They also urged Governor Makinde to equip the councils with the necessary policies and wherewithals that would make them discharge of their duties with ease.
A communique issued by the committee after the meeting read in part: “The body wishes to specifically express her appreciation to The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde for this stride in the right direction. This is because, constitution of Governing Councils is one of the major requests JAC has always tabled before The Government. This step further shows His Excellency as a leader that listens to the yearnings of his people.
“With the constitution of the Governing Councils, JAC believes that most issues yet to be resolved in the sector would be promptly resolved.
“While we are congratulating all the members of the Councils on their appointments, we wish to implore them to discharge their duties with utmost fear of God and love of humanity. We urge them not to misrepresent the good intentions of the State Governent for putting them in place.
“We also humbly urge The State Governent to adequately equip the Councils with necessary policies and wherewithals that would make the discharge of their duties easy and beneficial to their constituents. We humbly implore His Excellency to promptly inaugurate The Councils for them to hit the ground running.
“Finally as the Governor had graciously granted our request on constitution of Councils, we hereby besiege the government to also promptly grant our other requests especially on the commencement of the implementation of new minimum wage which other sectors had been enjoying since January 2020 and outstanding annual promotions.”
