As the spate of the spread of the deadly pandemic Coronavirus (COVID-19) pummels, a Non-Government Organization, the Incorporated Trustees of the Egalitarian Mission for Africa has demanded for observance of due process and accountability from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in its distribution of stimulus packages to the indigent and vulnerable citizens in some targeted areas of the Country.
It would be recalled that on the 29th of March, 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari in his Address to the Nation had reeled out measures to be followed after he orders lock down in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun State which is to commence by 11Pm the following day.
In his Address, Mr. President had ordered distribution of releif materials to residents of satellite towns and communities to ease their pains in the coming week.
In its Letter to the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development through its Lawyer, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, the group has urged the Minister to observe due diligence in ensuring successful disbursement of the stimulus packages to the affected citizens.
The group further pursuant to Freedom of Information Act demanded for information relating to the receipt or expenditure of the public funds (stimulus packages) disbursed by the Ministry.
