The need to further ensure the security of lives and property in Oyo State formed the major agenda during plenary at the State House of Assembly.
This followed a motion brought before the Assembly by Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji representing Ogbomoso North and a matter of public importance by Mr. Babajide Adebayo representing Ibadan North Constituency 2.
Presenting the motion on the need to checkmate the prevalence of rape in Oyo State, Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji described the rape of minor as a violation of human rights which required a massive mobilization of resources to punish culprits and totally curb the menace in the state.
Seconding the motion, Mr. Seyi Adisa representing Afijio State Constituency called on the government to partner nongovernmental organizations specialized in rehabilitating rape victims from their trauma.
During a matter of urgent public importance, a member representing Ibadan North Constituency 2, Mr. Babajide Adebayo called the attention of the lawmakers to the increasing activities of cultists in Oyo state, calling for an urgent need for security agencies to tackle rivalry, killings, and the spate of violence among cult groups.
Speaker of the House, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin called for more enlightenment campaigns against rape and admonished victims to speak up for proper legal processes.
