The Campaign Council and leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State have called for greater unity, inclusiveness and reconciliation among candidates as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The call was made at a strategic meeting convened by the Apex Campaign Council and attended by the APM governorship candidate, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, as well as party leaders and members of the campaign council.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation among candidates, resolving internal concerns and developing a coordinated strategy aimed at securing victory for APM candidates across the state.
Speaking at the meeting, the Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, urged candidates and party leaders to remain united and work collectively for the success of the party.
Lawal stressed the need for a common front, party discipline and aggressive grassroots mobilisation, noting that the party’s electoral success would depend largely on the ability of its candidates and structures to work together.
“The task ahead requires unity, commitment and genuine teamwork. If we are determined to win, every candidate must support one another and ensure that our message gets to the people across all the wards and local governments of Oyo State,” he said.
The Director-General of the Campaign Council, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, said the council’s mandate extended beyond the governorship election to securing victory for all APM candidates contesting National Assembly and State House of Assembly seats.
Adeniran also said the campaign council would mobilise support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition in Oyo State, urging candidates and party members to work collectively towards the objective.
He charged candidates and party leaders to take the party’s message to every part of the state, insisting that the APM logo, candidates and campaign message must reach households across the 33 local government areas.
The Director-General further called for genuine reconciliation among party members, urging candidates to return to their respective localities and resolve lingering disagreements.
He advised members to avoid unnecessary political battles, emphasising the need to bring the “God-factor” into their political engagements.
Adeniran also stressed the importance of party discipline, branding and grassroots mobilisation, while announcing plans to hold reconciliation meetings across the three senatorial districts.
The APM State Chairman, Otunba Adegbenro Fagbemi, equally urged candidates to work “hand in hand” to achieve the party’s objectives.
Similarly, Alliance Party Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, described Governor Makinde as a pillar of hope in Oyo State and called on political actors to work together.
The APM governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, expressed appreciation to the party leadership and campaign council, saying the achievements recorded by the Makinde administration provided a strong basis for the party’s campaign.
Adekanmbi urged party members to take the campaign message to the people and work for the success of Governor Makinde and all APM candidates in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on behalf of the Oyo Central Senatorial candidate, Ambassador Ajadi, Hon. Sikiru Sanda pledged that the guidance provided at the meeting would be given priority.
Representing the State House of Assembly candidates, Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola assured the meeting that areas of concern would be addressed as candidates strengthen their cooperation.
Hon. Najeem Oyesina, popularly known as Oshine, also thanked Governor Makinde, the Deputy Governor, the Director-General and other party leaders for providing the platform, assuring that candidates would deepen collaboration ahead of the elections.
The meeting ended on an optimistic note, with party leaders expressing confidence that improved coordination, reconciliation and collective campaigning would enhance APM’s chances of securing victory across elective positions in Oyo State in 2027.
Those in attendance included the Deputy Coordinator of the Presidential Campaign, Hon. Saheed Arowosaye; Deputy Director-General, Oyo North, Hon. Siju Lawal; Deputy Director-General, Oyo South, Hon. Ademola Ojo; Deputy Director-General, Oyo Central, Dr. Femi Ojo; Director of Women Mobilisation, Hon. Ramota Agberemi Dabo; and Director of Youth Mobilisation, Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa, among others.
