As part of Oyo State government’s initiative to galvanize and co-opt more youths and bridge the gap between the youth and the government, the state government under the ministry of youth and sports through its agency of Youth and Sports ,has on Thursday held a day retreat for members of Oyo State Youth Assembly so as to hit the ground running for the benefit of Oyo state youths.
The avenue is also a platform for developing and empowering the youth to realize their full potentials so as to compete favourably with their contemporaries across the globe and also serve as a training ground for preparing of youth people to develop their leadership skills.
During the retreat, Mr. Martin Ihembe who speaks on the topic ” Preparation Of Order Papers, Bills, Resolutions, Motions, Vote and Proceedings in the Parliament ” tasks members of the parliament to make a difference and make meaningful legislations that will improve the lives of the youth.
He notes that the rational behind the retreat is to prepare the newly parliamentarians for the tasks ahead of them, saying that, the knowledge of the retreat will prepare them for impactful legislative roles through out their tenure in office.
Another resource speaker and former speaker of the State house of assembly, Hon Mukaila Azeez Alarape for the retreat who covers topic around : Composition, Sitting and functions of the House and Ad-hoc Committees in the Parliament gives practical insights that will assist the parliamentarians in the discharge of their duties .
In their votes of thanks, the members who mainly participants applaud the organizers and coordinators for the laudable initiative put up together to prepare them for the tasks ahead, noting that they have now better exposed to understanding of enormity of their responsibilities and that ,they are now better prepared to face the challenges ahead.
The organizers in their remarks also appreciate the participants who also make it a date to the occasion and charge them to see the opportunity as a call to serve and that, they should use the capacity building for maximum contributions to the development of the State.
