The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, Dr Kunle Adegbite, has dismissed rumours that he is stepping down from the race, insisting that he remains firmly in the contest.
Adegbite, popularly known as Twindad, urged his constituents not to be distracted by speculation but to remain focused on the future and development of the constituency.
Addressing the rumours, the NDC candidate said he was determined to continue the race, stressing that reports suggesting otherwise were unfounded.
“Let me be absolutely clear: I am not stepping down. I am still in the race,” he declared.
Adegbite also highlighted the need for greater transparency and accountability in the representation of the constituency at the National Assembly.
According to him, many constituents are not adequately informed about the entitlements of their elected representatives in Abuja, the resources available to them and the benefits that should accrue to the people they represent.
“One of the biggest challenges we have is that many of our people do not even know what their elected representatives receive in Abuja. They do not know what resources are available for our constituency and what should come back to our people,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of transparency, accountability and people-centred representation, noting that the interests of the people must remain the priority of anyone seeking public office.
The candidate maintained that the constituency deserved effective representation that would promote development, ensure accountability and improve the welfare of residents across Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire.
He therefore appealed to his supporters and constituents to remain calm and avoid being swayed by rumours capable of shifting attention away from the issues that matter most.
“My people, please remain calm. Do not be distracted by rumours. Let us focus on the bigger picture, which is the future of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire,” Adegbite added.
He reiterated his commitment to the race, urging residents to prioritise discussions about the constituency’s development, accountability in governance and the need for purposeful representation at the National Assembly.
