The City Boy Movement in Oyo State has reaffirmed its total loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) declaring that it will not associate with political groups that support candidates of opposition parties while claiming to be APC members.
The Director of the Movement in the state, Hon. Olufemi Onireti, made this known in a statement issued on Monday.
Onireti said the movement is unequivocally loyal to the APC and all its candidates, from the presidential to the governorship and other elective positions.
“We are unequivocally loyal to the APC and all its candidates. Our loyalty is not selective, and we will not support one candidate while abandoning another. We stand firmly with the party at the presidential, governorship and other elective levels,” he said.
The movement expressed concern over the activities of some political groups that claim affiliation with the APC but openly promote candidates of other political parties, describing such conduct as inconsistent with genuine party loyalty.
“Political loyalty must be consistent. You cannot claim to be committed to the APC while simultaneously promoting candidates of other political parties based on personal interests or political calculations. Such actions raise serious questions about the sincerity of your allegiance to the party,” Onireti stated.
He stressed that the movement’s commitment to the APC remains total and unwavering, adding that it would not compromise its principles through selective support.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Oyo City Boy Movement stands firmly with the APC and all its candidates. We will not be part of any arrangement that undermines the party’s interests or promotes candidates from opposing political parties while claiming to represent the APC. Our loyalty is to the party, and our support extends to all its candidates,” he added.
Meanwhile, Onireti expressed appreciation to all those who participated in the movement’s inaugural event held last week.
He specially thanked the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, and the State Women Leader, Dr. Mrs. Felicia Adekemi Opatunde, for their presence and support, as well as executives and members across all zones in the state for their dedication to the success of the event.
The movement urged APC stakeholders and members of the public to distinguish between groups genuinely committed to the party and those with divided allegiance, calling on all APC-affiliated groups to demonstrate consistency, discipline and unity.
