The Oyo State gubernatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, continued his consultative engagements across the state with visits to Olorunsogo and Irepo Local Government Areas.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The visits, according to Adekanmbi, were part of his ongoing consultations ahead of the commencement of full-fledged campaigns for the 2027 general elections.

He said the engagements were aimed at listening to residents, traditional rulers, traders, artisans, party members and other stakeholders and understanding their needs and expectations.

Adekanmbi first visited the palace of the Onigbeti of Igbeti Land, H.R.M. Oba (Engr.) Bashir Olalekan Abioye, Siyanbola IV, where he was received by the monarch, residents and community stakeholders.

During the engagement, stakeholders highlighted several issues requiring attention, including the reconstruction of the Iseyin-Igbeti road, rehabilitation and construction of inner-city roads, and the proposed upgrade of Igbeti General Hospital to a state-owned facility.

They also called for policies and regulations that would ensure greater benefits for the community from the exploitation of its mineral resources, while seeking more employment opportunities for youths and increased representation of people from the area in state governance.

The APM candidate later proceeded to Kishi, where he paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Iba of Kishi Land, H.R.M. Oba M.O. Lawal Arowoduye II (JP).

Adekanmbi was warmly received at the palace, where the traditional ruler offered prayers and listened to the candidate’s message. Community stakeholders also presented their expectations for the development of Kishi and surrounding communities.

Among the issues raised were youth empowerment, employment opportunities for educated youths, the establishment of a vocational centre for artisans, specialised seminars to strengthen artisans’ skills and businesses, as well as improved road infrastructure.

Adekanmbi also met with APM leaders, stakeholders and members in both local government areas, where he appreciated them for their commitment to the party and urged them to continue mobilising support for all APM candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

He assured the communities that his proposed administration would prioritise people-centred governance and said the concerns raised during the consultations would form part of the issues to be considered in his administration’s development agenda.

Adekanmbi said the objective of the ongoing engagements was to ensure that the concerns of communities across Oyo State were heard and incorporated into his vision for what he described as the “Omituntun 3.0” administration.
