Thousands of supporters on Friday trooped out to welcome the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Kunle Samson Adegbite, during a colourful procession across parts of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Adegbite, who is the Chairman of Twindad Foundation, received what supporters described as a heroic welcome as the procession moved through major areas of the city in a carnival-like atmosphere.
Other NDC candidates who joined the procession were the party’s candidate for Ogbomoso North State Constituency, Hon. Oluwaseun Adeyinka, and the candidate for Ogbomoso South State Constituency, Hon. Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as BSA.
The procession began with the convergence of supporters at the High School Area and moved through Ahoyaya, Caretaker and Takie before terminating at the Soun Ogunlola Hall, Ojaagbo.
Supporters, dressed in party colours and carrying NDC flags and campaign materials, accompanied Adegbite and other candidates through the various parts of the city.
Residents and passers-by also gathered along sections of the route to catch a glimpse of the candidates and the large procession.
The event was part of ongoing political activities by the NDC in Ogbomoso ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the Soun Ogunlola Hall, the Oyo State Chairman of the NDC, Mrs. Oyeronke Bolajoko Akinlolu, expressed appreciation to the people of Ogbomoso for what she described as their massive support and turnout for Adegbite and other candidates of the party at the grassroots, state and national levels.
She urged party members and supporters to remain committed to the growth of the party and its electoral success.
In his remarks, Adegbite thanked the leadership of the NDC, party members and supporters for the warm reception and continued support.
He appealed to the people of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency to support his aspiration and vote for him, promising a leadership anchored on transformation, progress and sustainable development.
As part of the activities marking the event, Adegbite empowered some constituents with various items, including motorcycles and laptops.
He said the empowerment initiative was part of his commitment to supporting constituents, creating economic opportunities and promoting self-reliance among the people.
Adegbite added that through the Twindad Foundation, he had trained hundreds of constituents in different vocational and entrepreneurial skills, equipping beneficiaries with practical knowledge to improve their livelihoods and establish or expand their sources of income.
The NDC candidate said he remained committed to programmes and initiatives that would positively impact the lives of the people and contribute to the overall development of the constituency
