The Committee of Directors of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has commended the institution’s Rector, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, for his commitment to staff welfare, discipline and harmonious industrial relations.
The Directors gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to Lasisi to congratulate him on his substantive appointment as Rector by the Oyo State Government.
Speaking on behalf of the Directors, the Director of Career Development Centre, Dr. Olumuyiwa Ojo, said Lasisi had demonstrated commendable leadership during his period as Acting Rector, particularly in the areas of staff welfare and industrial harmony.
Ojo said the substantive appointment was a reflection of the confidence reposed in the Rector’s leadership capacity, competence, dedication and commitment to the growth and development of the institution.
According to him, the administration has also maintained a firm but constructive approach to student discipline, particularly through its zero-tolerance stance towards student riots and other activities capable of disrupting peace, security and academic programmes.
The Directors further commended the Rector for his efforts in restoring and improving electricity supply across the institution, noting that the intervention had positively impacted teaching, learning, research, administration and the general working environment.
They said his elevation to the substantive position came at a time when his leadership was already producing visible results, expressing confidence in his determination to consolidate the achievements and introduce further initiatives to promote academic, infrastructural, administrative and socio-economic development.
The Directors prayed for wisdom, sound health, strength and courage for the Rector, while assuring him of their continued support, cooperation and professional guidance in moving the institution forward.
Responding, Lasisi expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, for the opportunity to serve as Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
He assured the Governor, the state government, the Governing Council, Management, staff and students that he would continue to work diligently towards taking the institution to the highest possible level in teaching, learning, innovation, quality control and moral development.
