The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and security agencies for securing the release of the victims abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The victims, numbering 47, were kidnapped from Yawota and Ahoro Esiele communities in Oriire LGA before they were rescued on Friday through coordinated security efforts.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, Oba Ladoja particularly praised Governor Makinde for standing firmly with the victims and their families throughout the period of the abduction.
The monarch described Makinde’s support as a demonstration of compassionate leadership, noting that the governor remained committed to ensuring the safe return of the victims.
Oba Ladoja also lauded President Tinubu for providing the needed federal support that strengthened the rescue operation, saying the successful release of the victims reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He equally commended the Chief of Defence Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, other security agencies, Amotekun operatives, and local hunters for their coordinated efforts, courage, and professionalism that led to the successful rescue.
According to the Olubadan, the operation sends a strong message that government at all levels is determined to tackle insecurity and protect citizens.
He urged the authorities to consolidate on the success by strengthening security in communities bordering the national park to prevent future attacks.
The traditional ruler also called on government to provide adequate rehabilitation, counselling, and psychological support for the released victims to help them recover from the trauma they experienced during their captivity.
