Ogbomoso Community Foundation Visits Families of Orire Kidnap Victims, Seeks Release of Abductees

The Ogbomoso Community Foundation (OCF) on Wednesday visited families affected by the recent abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, expressing sympathy with the bereaved and calling for intensified efforts to secure the release of those still in captivity.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Foundation, Engr. Abu Salami, visited the family of late Mr. Mathew Ojedokun, a Mathematics teacher who was killed during the attack, as well as the family of another teacher who lost his life in the tragic incident.

The family of a hunter who was also reportedly killed could not be visited as they were unavailable at the time.

The team also paid a solidarity visit to Professor Akin Alamu, husband of the Vice Principal who remains in the custody of the abductors, offering words of encouragement and prayers for her safe return.

During the visits, members of the Foundation commiserated with the affected families, prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives, and expressed hope for the safe release of all victims still being held by the kidnappers.

Speaking during the visits, the Foundation urged both state and non-state actors in the security sector to intensify efforts towards the immediate rescue of the abductees.

The delegation stressed the importance of stronger collaboration among security agencies, local vigilante groups, community leaders, and other stakeholders in tackling insecurity and preventing future occurrences.

The Foundation under the leadership of General Oladayo Popoola Rtd also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security operatives to aid ongoing rescue efforts and enhance security within communities.

The visit formed part of OCF’s commitment to identifying with victims of the Orire tragedy, demonstrating solidarity with affected families, and advocating decisive action against the growing threat of insecurity in the region.

Members of the delegation included the Vice Chairman of OCF, Dr. Tayo Alayande; a member of the Board of Trustees, Mr. A.A. Ajekigbe; former General Secretary, Mr. Akin Akano; General Secretary, Mr. Ayo Morakinyo; and Mrs. Areo, a member of the executive committee.

The Foundation prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved families and expressed hope that all those still in captivity would regain their freedom unharmed.
