The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has officially unveiled Hon. Muftau Open Salawu of Ogbomoso as its Deputy Governorship Candidate for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
The unveiling ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, attracted party leaders, political stakeholders, supporters, and other prominent figures from across the state.
The event marked a significant step in the growing alliance between the APM and the PDP as both parties intensify preparations and political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the ceremony, party leaders described Salawu’s emergence as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the alliance’s political influence and expanding its grassroots support base across Oyo State, particularly in the Ogbomoso and Oke-Ogun geopolitical zones.
According to them, Salawu’s leadership qualities, political experience, and commitment to community development make him a suitable choice for the position. They expressed confidence that his nomination would enhance the coalition’s chances in the forthcoming governorship contest.
The leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation between the two parties, noting that the alliance was established to provide a credible alternative capable of addressing the developmental challenges facing the state.
In his acceptance speech, Salawu thanked the leadership of both parties for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to justify the trust placed in his candidature.
He assured party members and supporters of his commitment to working closely with the governorship candidate, party executives, and stakeholders to advance good governance, unity, and sustainable development across Oyo State.
“I appreciate the confidence and support of the leadership of both parties. I am committed to working tirelessly with all stakeholders to build a stronger political platform and deliver meaningful development to the people of Oyo State,” he said.
The ceremony concluded with renewed calls for unity among party members and a collective resolve to build a formidable political structure capable of securing victory in the 2027 governorship election.
