A federal lawmaker, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari has express optimism that the choice of the All Progressives Congress APC on president of the Senate and Speaker of the National Assembly will emerge in the 9th Assembly.
Buhari disclosed that the party has already zoned the Senate to North East and Speaker of the House of Reps to the South West Adding that Senator Ahmed Lawan is the choice of the party for the Senate Presidency.
The reelected APC lawmaker while responding to questions on a private radio programme in Ibadan said ‘The party is taking charge to ensure that what happened in 2015 when some lawmakers go against the party’s arrangement did not happen and it won’t happen again”
Unlike then when there was no coordination , the party has started talking to us to give us direction, for instance, at the dinner with the President last we discuss it and we are getting a better response .
Already we have 66 lawmaker in APC, PDP has 42 and the only YYP candidate is already in our camp so if there is no dissenting voice in APC and everybody obey the decision of the party,it is automatic win for Ahmed Lawan.
Senator Ahmed Lawan is a good choice for the party,I am for him , he is a responsible and experienced lawmaker, her has been in the system and he knows the rules of the game and with him as the Senate president ,there will be harmonious working relationship between the Senate and the Executives, there won’t be unnecessary delay in legislative process on issues affecting Nigerians.
Senator Buhari said though the likes of Senator Alli Ndume, Senator Kyari Senator Goje and others who are agitating for the post are entitle to it but they are party people and the party is already talking to them to key in to the party’s arrangement.
Buhari who is the chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime said the party will reveal how to share five other key position in couple of weeks.
While reacting to the allegation of president Muhammadu Buhari’s Insensitivity to the safety of lives and economic development of the state, the lawmaker said “The issue of economic and insecurity have been there for long and Nigerians need reorientation on how we can live together in peace, people should stop senseless killing, and economic sabotage.
He also task the youths to show more commitment and use their strength in developing Nigeria rather than waiting on people in power to do it alone ” We all have the task to perform on nation building , both the government and the governed should be responsible and act well their own part, we cannot get to anywhere in this nation with vote buying and selling.
On Oyo state, Senator said he is ready to work with the governor elect, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde to take Oyo state to the next level.
