The Ogbomoso Community Foundation has announced that the Fourth Biennal Memorial Lecture in honour of the Late former Inspector General of Police, Chief Sunday Adedayo Adewusi, IGP (rtd), GCON, will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025 in Ogbomoso.

Chief Adewusi, who served as Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police from 1981 to 1983, was a prominent figure in law enforcement, the pioneer Leader of OCF and the Asiwaju of Ogbomosoland. He passed away on January 26, 2016, at the age of 79.

Themed “Failure of Internal Security: Dissecting the Historical and Systemic Dysfunctionality of the Nigeria Police Force,” the lecture will bring together security experts, scholars, dignitaries and key stakeholders to discuss challenges within Nigeria’s internal security system and explore possible reforms.

Prof. Oyesoji Aremu of University of Ibadan, the Guest Lecturer, is expected to provide in-depth analysis of the structural inefficiencies of the police force.

Dr. Amos Adamu, sports administrator and former CAF/FIFA executive is the Chairman, Rear Admiral Jacob Ajani (rtd), a seasoned Naval Officer is the Special Guest of Honour while Major General (Dr.) Oladayo Popoola (rtd), former Military Administrator of Oyo and Ogun States and the Leader of Ogbomoso Community Foundation is the Chief Host.

The event will commence at 10:00am at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club, Ogbomoso.
