The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, of spreading falsehood and unsubstantiated allegations in a bid to gain public support ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The APM Governorship Campaign Council was reacting to allegations linking its governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, and the party to the alleged destruction of APC campaign billboards in parts of Ibadan, the state capital.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the council, through its Director of Communication and Spokesperson, Yinka Oladoyinbo, denied any involvement in the alleged incident and warned the APC against linking Adekanmbi or the APM to acts of violence.
The council described Adekanmbi as a peaceful politician who had never been associated with activities involving the destruction of other people’s property.
It also accused the APC of attempting to blame its internal crisis on APM members, alleging that the opposition party had previously claimed that some of its leaders were attacked by APM members during its engagements.
The APM further criticised the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation over its recent claims of a diphtheria outbreak in Oyo State, describing the allegation as another attempt to mislead the public.
The council argued that the APC and its candidate lacked tangible programmes to convince voters, hence their alleged resort to what it described as deception, blackmail and unfounded accusations.
It maintained that residents of the state would not abandon the gains of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, insisting that continuity would sustain and extend the state’s development.
The campaign council, however, called on security agencies to investigate the alleged destruction of APC billboards to establish the authenticity of the claim and identify those responsible.
It also urged APM members to remain peaceful and continue their electioneering activities without fear, expressing confidence in the ability of security agencies to protect lives and property.
The statement was signed by Oladoyinbo on October 14, 2026.
