A prominent youth leader in Oke-Ogun zone of Oyo State and strong supporter of the Allied People’s Movement, (APM)Hon. Comrade Anuoluwani Omidiji, has dumped the party and returned to the All Progressives Congress, (APC) with his supporters.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Omidiji, who announced his defection after meeting the APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Hon. Adesoji Adedeji, at the party’s campaign office in Ibadan on Saturday, October 3, 2026, described his return as a “reconstructive voyage back to my APC home.”

In a statement titled “Seeing Before and Beyond APM: A Reconstructive Voyage Back To My APC Home” and personally signed by him, Omidiji said his decision followed careful reflection on his recent political engagements and personal conviction.

He listed youth inclusion, grassroots development, employment and empowerment, as well as security, peace and justice as key principles that guided his decision.

“Youth Inclusion: I strongly believe young people must have meaningful participation in governance, leadership, employment and human-capital development. Grassroots Development: Effective local governance and meaningful autonomy are essential for development to reach our communities directly,” Omidiji stated.

“Employment & Empowerment: Oyo State requires policies that expand opportunities, create jobs and strengthen human capacity across all sectors. Security, Peace & Justice: Every citizen deserves security, fairness, justice and the opportunity to contribute positively to society.”

Omidiji disclosed that his encounter with the incoming APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Hon. Adesoji Adedeji, left a strong impression on him.

“My interaction with the incoming APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Engr. Adesoji Adedeji, left a strong impression on me. His accessibility, willingness to listen and emphasis on grassroots concerns strengthened my interest in the direction being presented under the APC platform,” he said.

On his experience in APM, Omidiji noted: “My engagement with APM provided an opportunity to listen to alternative political ideas. However, after further reflection, I believe my political journey should reconnect with the platform where I see greater alignment with my longstanding aspirations and principles.”

He therefore declared his renewed commitment to the APC, saying his focus ahead of 2027 is on supporting constructive political participation and programmes capable of promoting development, accountability, peace and opportunity for the people of Oyo State.

“For me, 2027 is about ideas, inclusion, development and the future of our people. I will continue to advocate for a peaceful and egalitarian Oyo State where youths, women, workers, entrepreneurs and communities can participate meaningfully in development.

“However, APC has it all in the pack for a brighter Oyo State, APC is my Home again, and again. APC – Progress!!!” he added.
