Senator Kola Balogun has described the new year 2022 as the beginning of new hope and fresh opportunities, saying Nigerians have every cause to celebrate, in spite of turbulence of the past year.

He said this in a statement by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Mr Dapo Falade, to congratulate his constituents in Oyo South Senatorial District and the people of Oyo State on the occasion of the New Year celebration.

Senator Balogun said it is without doubt that the old year, 2021, was touch and challenging, but thanked God for keeping alive many people to witness the advent of Year 2022.

The vice chairman, Senate Committee on Sports and Youth Development, urged Nigerians to be thankful to God for being alive, assuring his constituents of better goodies in the new year.

“Yes, and without any doubt, the old year was very tough and challenging. Many people, unfortunately lost their lives and several others lost loved ones and properties during the last year.

“But God, in His infinite mercies, still kept some of us alive till this very day. That we are alive is by His grace and it is to realise and fulfil His purpose for us on earth.

“The breaking of the new year has offered us new hope and fresh opportunities. We should be positive-minded in the new year and beyond. We still have hope as living humans.

“The new year will open the windows of new opportunities for us and usher us into greater fulfilments, both individually and as a country.

“For my people in Oyo South Senatorial District, I can assure you of more dividends of democracy in the new year. We will increase our efforts in facilitating and bringing more trainings and empowerment programmes to your doors.

“We are fortunate to have a governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, whose administration is people-centred. He is not relenting in executing projects and programmes that will be beneficial to the generality of the people of Oyo State.

“We should rekindled our hope and be optimistic that the Governor Makinde-led administration can and will only continue to make the people of the state happy with his policies and programmes.

“It is on this note that I and my wife, Mrs Mogbonjubola Kola-Balogun, congratulate our people in Oyo South Senatorial District and, indeed, the entire state on this occasion of New Year celebration. We shall live to witness many more in good health and prosperity,” he said.
