2021 SWAN Week: Startimes Supports Oyo SWAN

Preparations for the 2021 Week of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter has received a boost as one of the Association’s allies, StarTimes Nigeria has announced that it is supportng Oyo SWAN for celebration of its annual Week scheduled to commence next Monday.

According to P.R Manager, StarTimes Nigeria, Lazarus Ibeabuchi, StarTimes will take care of logistics for the week-long celebration.

Ibeabuchi explained that the decision of his Company to support the Association was as a result of the long time relationship existing between the leadership of Oyo SWAN and StarTimes Management.

He enjoined all sports journalists in the state to see the SWAN Week as an avenue to interact and celebrate.

“In as much as, I will like to appreciate the partnership between StarTimes and Oyo SWAN, I want to advise that members should see this Sports Week as an avenue to interact and celebrate with each other. You should all go out and have fun and bond together in the spirits of sportsmanship”, Ibeabuchi said.

While thanking StarTimes for its support, the Chairman, Oyo SWAN Comrade Niyi Alebiosu, expressed hope that existing relationship between SWAN and StartTimes will blossom in the coming years and assured the Management of StarTimes of continuation of good working relationships.

The 2021 Oyo SWAN Week will be heralded by a lecture titled ‘Taking Nigeria Sport to the Next Level Through School Sports Reforms’, to be delivered by the President, Nigeria School Sport Federation, Mrs Olabisi Joseph at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Secretariat, Iyaganku on the 13th of December, 2021.

The Week will be declared opened by the Honourable Minister of Youths and Sports, Chief Sunday Dare who will also double as the Chairman of the day.

The Minister will also be decorated with an Award of Excellence for his giant strides in Sports Development in Nigeria.

Sporting events of the Week will take centre stage at Lummy’s Turf, Idi Odo, Challenge where Media Houses will be taking on each other in football and table tennis contests between 14th-17th December 2021, with winners at the Games taking home different prizes.

The Week will be rounded off with an award nite which will hold on Sunday, 19th December 2021 at the Swimming Pool Side of Joybam Hotel and Suites, Orita Challenge, Ibadan.
