No fewer than ten members of a cult group have been arrested by the police following the protest that trail the murder of an ex students of The Polytechnic Ibadan Ahmed Olalekan
Olalekan was mudered on Monday evening by people suspected to be cult member at Fanawole area of Apete Ibadan
On Tuesday, anti cult group organization tagged Students Forum in Apete and some students of the school register their displeasure over the killing with a protest during which academic and economic activities of the school was paralysed.
An inside source told our reporter that one of the suspect was arrested on Monday while others were arrested on Tuesday during and after the protest.
The source disclosed that the arrested people are already undergoing interrogations at the investigative department of Nigerian Police force .
While confirming the arrest, Police Public Relations Officers Oyo state commad Mr Adekunle Ajisebutu said some people were arrested during and after the protest but he cannot say if all of them were arrested in connection with the murder of the ex poly students
Ajisebutu said that exhibits were recovered from them and they will be tried after the investigation which is still ongoing.
Meanwhile the anti – cultism group named The Polytechnic Ibadan Students’ Forum has affirmed that Ahmed Olalekan popularly known as ‘Maku’ who was recently murdered by suspected cultists was never a member of any secret cult as it is being rumoured, adding that the group is not an alternate cult group that will take vengeance on behalf of the departed soul.
The Students’ Forum in a press statement issued and signed by its Chairman, Councils of Elders, Comrade Oyedele Temitope on Wednesday, a also urged the security agencies, particularly the police to carry out comprehensive investigation in order to bring the killers of this innocent soul to justice.
