Engr. Raufu Aderemi Olaniyan Foundation, free Eye care programme in conjunction with the Atupa Eye clinic Catholic hospital Iseyin commenced in Ibadan today
The  four days programm will cater for patients with various sight challenges, including surgery intervention where applicable.
Reverend Sister Cecilia Olusanya from Atupa Eye clinic hospital Iseyin, who heads the team of Opticians  described Engr. Raufu Olaniyan as someone with a big heart, who does not discriminate.
She stressed that the former Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State civil service has on several occasions provided free eye surgeries to several people without considerations to their religious faith or tribal background for years.
 She also remarked that ‘We have seen several people here today who ordinarily would not have been able to afford a  visit to an eye clinic because of their financial state.”
Corroborating Rev. Sister Olusansaya , Prince Ademiju  from Ibadan North East local government area of Ibadan,one of the beneficiary of the programme, noted that most people present like himself could not afford to visit eye clinics because of the grueling economic situation, but through the Raufu Olaniyan Foundation, they are getting for free what would have cost them a lot of money.
The chairman of the organizing committee for the event Alhaji Lateef Salami Komi, maintained  that Engr. Olaniyan is a humanitarian, who does not like to see people suffer or go through hardship of any sort, he opined that the committee has been mandated to ensure that as many people as possible benefits from this free eye care program across the length and breath of Oyo state.he also told journalist present that  a few people are already slated for surgery in the coming weeks, and is only day one of the programme.
He noted further that  drugs and sight corrective lenses worth millions of naira have been provided to be distributed free to participant in the three day event in Ibadan, while the  program will continue next week in Iseyin and later Ogbomoso, Oyo, ibarapa, and Orelope local government areas.
Oyo guber hopeful and founder of Rauf Olaniyan Foundation, Engr. Raufu Olaniyan noted that the eyes are very important to the body, as anything affecting the eyes will shutdown the body completely and affects productivity, he said this programme is not only to ensure that opportunity is provided to all and sundry to take care of their eyes, but to also increase their productivity in the society.
He said further that the foundation will continue to offer humanitarian services to the people, and will not relent in putting a smile on their faces.
Some of the  beneficiaries  thanks Engr. Raufu Olaniyan for the gesture and pray  God will cause his aspirations to come to pass and provide his divine protection for him and his family.
